Open source input-output database (EUR)

Updated over 3 weeks ago

EXIOBASE is an comprehensive collection of processes that detail the environmental impacts of generic commodities worldwide. Similarly to USEEIO, it is also an input-output database, which was developed by harmonizing and detailing supply-use tables for a large number of countries, estimating emissions and resource extractions by industry.

Key features

  • Commodities (products): 200 (across 163 industries)

  • Geographies: 44 countries + 5 Rest of World (RoW) regions

  • Available functional units: EUR2022, EUR (€)

    • Conversion rate from EUR2022 to EUR: 1.09

  • Environmental extensions: 417 emissions categories, 662 material/resource categories

Exiobase in Earthster

Earthster currently provides Exiobase datasets in a system-process format. The full unit-process data available in the original Exiobase database is not yet supported due to its size and complexity, but we are actively working on implementing this functionality.

These system-process datasets can be used for calculations and give the same results as the unit-process data.

Currency scaling

The EUR scale unit corresponds to 2024 price levels and is derived from EUR2022 using Eurostat HICP inflation indices (Euro area - 20 countries). The conversion factor (1.09) is calculated by comparing average January–September inflation indices for 2022 and 2024, reflecting the latest official data available at the time of release.
