CORRIM

CORRIM (Consortium for Research on Renewable Industrial Materials) provides life cycle inventory data for wood and forest products in the United States, reflective of 2017 — covering the chain from forest operations (harvesting, site preparation, reforesting) through primary milling (lumber, plywood, OSB) to engineered wood products (I-joist, glulam, laminated veneer lumber) and paper/packaging.

It's produced by a nonprofit research consortium of forest-products companies, universities, and trade associations, in collaboration with the American Wood Council, specifically to give the building and forest-products industries a peer-reviewed basis for environmental claims about wood products.

It's part of the U.S. Federal LCA Commons family and leans on USLCI for the general industrial inputs wood processing shares with everything else — fuel combustion, electricity, and freight transport.

CORRIM is a narrow, wood-specific database — on its own, without any cross-database linking, roughly **1 in every 2 process inputs has no data behind it, because almost everything that isn't wood-specific (fuel, electricity, general chemicals) simply isn't modeled here. In Earthster, that gap is resolved down to **fewer than 1 in 100 (1%)** by linking out to USLCI, BAFU, USEEIO, and US Electricity Baseline as background databases — USLCI alone accounts for 318 of those links (shared industrial inputs like diesel combustion and trucking), with BAFU close behind at 222. Cycles measured in kilograms come prefilled with Mass properties where the source data supports it.
