U.S. Life Cycle Inventory

Updated over a week ago

The U.S. Life Cycle Inventory (USLCI) Database provides access to representative and transparent LCI data for materials, products, and processes within the U.S. and North American context.

Datasets in USLCI are curated by the National Renewable Energy Lab (NETL) for transparency and usability, ensuring they meet specific standards, such as:

  • Representing comprehensive LCI data for the U.S. or North America.

  • Being non-proprietary and publicly available.

  • Including standardized measurements or estimation methods for data consistency.

Cut-off flows

Most of the USLCI datasets have complete upstream data, but some may have data gaps - when that happens, they show up as a custom process (named CUTOFF - <process name>). This is because the original USLCI database lacks a proxy for these flows. The list of USLCI datasets that have cut-off custom processes is here.

For more information about the USLCI database, such as naming conventions, check out FLCAC's Data submission handbook and the FLCAC's Metadata Guidance.
